Outstanding Students of the FGC Sokoto celebrated by the Benjamin & Esther Elesin Foundation

At the 3rd Annual Prize Giving and Awards Ceremony The Benjamin & Esther Elesin Foundation celebrated eighteen outstanding students of the school who came first and second in the senior and junior category and the Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE).

The Ceremony was held on the 3rd of April 2023, on the assembly ground of the Federal Government College Sokoto.

Twelve students in the Senior Secondary level were awarded cash prizes of N25,000 for first position and N15,000 for second position respectively with a plaque each for coming in 1st and 2nd position in Further Maths, English, and Technical Drawing.

Four students in the Junior categories received cash prizes for Outstanding Performance for the session ending 2021 / 2022. Two students received the 1st and 2nd prize for coming first and second in BECE.

For some families these awards can equal a full month’s pay.

“Elesin Foundation, once again we sincerely appreciate you . . . I pray. . . that more of these laudable projects can be executed in the nearest future. Thanks.”

In attendance at the ceremony was the Foundation Representative and Ambassador, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, the school Principal, Vice Principals, Teachers, Students, Parents, and Guardians of the students.

The school management, staff, and pupils were very appreciative of the Foundation's support for the school in encouraging educational and extracurricular activities to raise the well-rounded child.

The parents / guardians of the students hailed the Foundation for their continuous support and prayed for the progress of the members of the Foundation in all they do.

“Something had to start from somewhere.
This Foundation of the Elesins has brought us light . . .”

The Benjamin & Esther Elesin Foundation is fundraising to provide hygiene products to girls and to boys, so they can continue their studies without interruption.

We believe these items are directly related to the ability of children to succeed in education, and in life.

For girls, this can mean the difference between being able to attend school regularly versus not graduating from school nor completing their education ; it can mean the difference between a life of vulnerability, violence or poverty, versus a life of self sufficiency and leadership. Girls receive sanitary napkins, soap, and deodorant. For boys, this encourages self presentation and confidence, and can prepare their mindset to become future leaders. Boys receive deodorant, shaving cream, and soap.
